So, the US saw an attempted coup in 2021. Among other things. And yet, I don’t think I can claim 2021 was weirder than 2020. If anything, it came off as less weird.

Go figure. I guess readers can check out my recaps from 2020, 2019, and 2018 to run a comparison.

Let’s take a look at some of the things happening in the Base and Superstructure world this year. And celebrate, perhaps, the coming of even better things in 2022?

Most Viewed Posts

So, if I just did a regular review of the most viewed posts, it wouldn’t look that much different from previous years. Or, to put it another way, I wrote a few articles in 2019 and 2020 that still receive lots of views!

So, here are the most popular posts I wrote in 2021:

1. DSA Convention 2021: A Few Thoughts
2. About That October 15 Fake Strike
3. How Did Jon Green Do?

So, at least for 2021, I think readers were most interested in coverage of leftist organizing. That’s an encouraging result! The first two posts on this list are some coverage of the DSA’s biennial national convention and coverage of badly organized ‘strikes,’ respectively.

The third post is about a local race in my area for county supervisor. But the winner of that election – Jon Green – sits to the left of other local politicos (in an area that’s already fairly left-leaning), and he has had involvement with the local DSA chapter.

2021 Theme and 2022 Preview

I usually start each year with some kind of overall theme for the year. And the theme for 2021 was pretty clear: the corporate world and its culture and follies. I think I hit that theme pretty well!

Readers might therefore, be interested in the theme for 2022. But, I’ve got to admit, I’m not yet sure! It hasn’t really come to me yet. Will it? Maybe. If so, great. But if not, no big deal.

There’s plenty of blogging left to be done, even if it’s not on a central theme for the new year.
